Founded by passionate beekeepers with roots going back three generations, and frustrated by outdated timber hives, HiveIQ set out to create a modern solution for today’s beekeepers. After thousands of hours of research, development, and over five years of field testing, they introduced the HiveIQ Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) beehive in June 2022. Since then, their hiveware range has grown thanks to feedback from beekeepers from around the world. Excited to keep innovating, they will soon introduce new feeders, a signature hive tool, and other integrated hive products on our journey to support healthier, happier bees.

We Have Put These Hives To The Test In Our Own Apiary, And The Difference Is Unmistakable!
We can say with out a doubt that the HiveIQ hives have made our bees stronger and more productive
We put the HiveIQ hives in our Apiary in the middle of summer with the sun beating down on them for 14 hours a day. The first thing we noticed is that the number of bees at the entrance fanning air into the hive decreased dramatically. This not only confirmed our hypothesis that the hive would be cooler in the summer, but also allowed for more bees to be foraging, which in turn means more production.
After two weeks we decided to crack open the hive and do an inspection, and there were bees everywhere. It seemed like overnight there was an explosion in the bee population and the bees seemed very happy and content in their new home. The biggest surprise was when we inspected the brood. Our Queens were very consistent in laying eggs, but two of them had a definate “rainbow” pattern (where the brood is in the middle of the frame forming a “rainbow” with bee bread and pollen surrounding it) to their brood before the HiveIQ. But after two weeks in the HiveIQ beehive, the brood pattern was a full frame from top to bottom and left to right, on both sides! This lead us to believe that the sides of the frames were getting too hot in the wooden beehive, so the Queen chose not to lay eggs there. But with HiveIQ, the temperature was more consistent, which resulted in an almost perfect brood pattern on several frames.
Weekly inspections brought an unexpected perk – lighter lifting! Thanks to HiveIQ’s polystyrene design, these hives weigh far less than traditional wooden ones, so lifting those deep boxes full of honey was a little easier because we didn’t have the added weight of the wood. When it came time to harvest honey, lifting and carrying a full super was easier as well, our arms and backs noticed the difference.
With winter approaching the amount of preparation needed was reduced drastically. No more wrapping hives, cutting moisture boards, or insulating the top! All that is already done with the HiveIQ beehive. The only worry for us was if we had enough stores and resources in each hive to last the winter, so we going to keep feeding until it gets too cold and then suppliment with fondant or candy. We will see next spring how well they did and will post a full report on the website.
If you are ready to upgrade your beehives don’t wait any longer, we think you will love the HiveIQ beehives as much as we do!
